Motors
The driving experience of the Mercedes-Benz GLC is exceptionally easy thanks to its advanced permanently excited motors, which deliver instant torque, excellent efficiency, and smooth operation. The 2-speed transmission on the rear axle enables smooth acceleration at all speeds, while the decoupling unit intelligently disconnects the front axle, reducing drag and increasing range. The improved distribution between the front and rear motors maximizes energy efficiency, while the 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system ensures continuous traction and stability, even on ice or snow.
Battery
The battery is positioned between the axles in the floor of the vehicle. The Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric 400 4MATIC, Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric 250, Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric 300 4MATIC, and Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric 300+ use a nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) battery, designed for maximum range and high charging speed. This battery has a usable energy content of 94.4 kWh or 85.5 kWh and is characterized by high energy density within a compact installation space. The 800-volt architecture enables fast charging: for example, the GLC Electric can gain an additional range of up to 300 kilometers in just 10 minutes at an 800 V fast-charging station.
Driving programs and energy recuperation
With the DYNAMIC SELECT driving programs “Comfort,” “Sport,” “Eco,” and “Individual,” you can adjust the driving characteristics to suit your preferences. Vehicles equipped with the 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system also feature the additional “Terrain” driving mode for unpaved roads. Energy recuperation levels can be adjusted using the controls on the multifunction sports steering wheel in four stages: “D,” “DAuto,” “D+,” and “D-.” At the highest level of recuperation, you can decelerate the vehicle almost to a complete stop without pressing the brake pedal. The recovered energy is fed back into the high-voltage battery. The “DAuto” recuperation mode is particularly practical, as it automatically adjusts energy recovery based on the road layout and speed limits.
